I want to thank everyone who helped me raise money for Polaris Project by purchasing a copy of my m/m romance, Broken. It has been my honor to contribute half of my proceeds for the first four months of sales to this vital organization combatting human trafficking and modern day slavery.
When I first wrote Broken I felt compelled to do something for people in the real world who are caught up in the same nightmare as my character Xiu is in the book.I began researching anti-human trafficking organizations, and there are many fine ones, but it soon became clear that Polaris Project was the one I wanted to focus on.
Polaris Project takes a comprehensive approach to the problem of human trafficking by providing direct assistance to those in need and helping create systemic changes to combat the crime. They operate a national human trafficking hotline and work to pass federal and state legislation to protect trafficking victims and bring traffickers to justice. Here's a link to just one example of the many ways in which Polaris Project helps people get out of trafficking situations.
I won't know the total amount raised until I get my next royalty statement from Loose Id, but when I do, I'll post it.
